Hello everyone, I am Terry. About a month ago, I was working at home. Then I recorded a video to share with you the difference between Waymo and Tesla's automatic driving V11 version. At that time, many people in the video asked me why I wanted to do the V11 version. This is an outdated version. At that time, when the video was uploaded, the V12 version was already available to some very few users. In fact, my idea at that time was mainly to record the V12 version. Record its performance before it entered history.
Because you can basically take V12 as a brand new FSD Many people call it the real first generation FSD Because it is completely different from the starting point of the V11's underlying technology I think it's a bit like the time when Windows 95 came out Replace the previous 3.11 So I wanted to record the actual test of the V11 version and make a video Then you can see something different when you go to see V12
And from the 11th to 12th generation, I think it will also be recorded as a very important milestone in the history of human AI development. Thank you to many netizens who commented in the following video that they wanted to see V12. But because I'm busy these days and need to stay in Seattle, I don't have time to go to California. But that doesn't mean I can't share the latest situation of V12 with you.
I found a video called AI Driver Share the latest V12.3 test record I have actually seen a lot of V12 videos myself The reason I chose this video is because I like the way it is recorded and the quality of it. Thank you very much for letting me share his video with you here. If you are interested, you can follow his channel
That's what I just said There are actually a lot of V12 videos on the Internet Many are perfectly opened for a few hours There is no manual control at all But those videos are very boring There is nothing to talk about So I chose this video especially Mainly because it has many edges worth showing
V12 still can't be perfectly solved Then it also recorded V12 perfectly solve some examples of many special cases So I also highly recommend you to watch this video Because after watching I believe it can definitely refresh your knowledge of autonomous driving Let's pause for a minute first Thank you for this video today is sponsored by Surfshark
I believe everyone's understanding of traditional VPN is to "overthrow the wall" and protect online food. But there are actually many types of VPN brands. Why would I choose Surfshark? The main thing is that in addition to the basic "overthrow the wall" function, it protects your privacy and prevents malicious systems. It is also the technology they have been investing in.
Surfshark provides not only traditional VPN functions They are actually a complete set of information security software In addition to VPN, online privacy protection, advertising blockade There are also reconnaissance of all external networks and prevention and control software Our most common IG or Facebook backdoor Are because of accidentally clicking a link Or download some malicious programs to your computer And these malicious programs are called viruses
Can monitor your every move Including your every keyboard and mouse click Your browser record Then it is very likely that your network bank password Or the wallet information on the web may be stolen And not just computers There are also very high risks on mobile phones Surfshark has now put VPN, privacy, security browser, backup ID And the function of the anti-dust software All integrated into a software As long as you subscribe to Surfshark One You can turn on all the
and can also protect all your equipment at the same time. Now you can get a exclusive discount with my invitation code plus an additional three months free. An average of one month is the price of a cup of coffee. And if you are not satisfied, you can also refund at any time within 30 days. If you need it, the link is in the information column at the bottom of the video. Or you can also scan this QR code directly.
The driver of JD is San Jose, California. The starting point is to start from the parking lot. It is only noticed that the Tesla FSD V12 is capable of driving the car out of the parking lot. But I have seen many videos, some of them are really perfect, and can be slowly turned out of the parking lot.
Some will still be stuck when encountering some special situations Especially when there are a lot of people in the parking lot and a lot of cars It's actually quite difficult to do this Then I think this is also very normal Because I think the AI team of Tesla should not put the focus on the parking lot now Because the parking lot application is actually very practical But the main thing is that you spend time driving on the road So I think in terms of the current stage Their focus is still on the training on the road When driving on the road is already very safe Then the model is already very mature
At that time, you can have time to enhance the training of these edge cases. For example, in the parking lot or in some closed roads or special areas. You can see that the first left turn of the parking lot is very good. It will be cleared when the left and right cars are clear. Then slowly turn out It is worth noting that Tesla also has a function called Smart Summon. For example, after you buy something, you can ask your car to go around the parking lot. Go straight to the store gate to pick you up I heard that this function will be released in the later V12 version. And Auto Park is automatic parking. There is a very important detail here. It is the car that the object is coming out.
Then you can see that FSD is not completely stopped It is like the old world, slowly sliding at a very slow speed I think this is also a very humanistic performance of V12 This is the biggest difference between V12 and V11 If you want to write this function into the code It's very difficult because you have various different edge cases Then the V12's internet approach can show its advantages in this case Then you can see that there is a new person suddenly walking out here And you can see the difference with the previous version here The previous version will stop completely Then wait for that person to walk by and then move forward Then the V12 version looks like a person
Cross in front of the car to the left and it actually takes this opportunity and goes for it.
Then you can see that FSD is doing the left turn here The timing is very good Also turned out safely Then he is ready to go to the road Here, it is only noted that he is hitting the left light Actually I think it's wrong It should be theoretically speaking, you have to hit the right light first After entering the road, it will immediately make a left turn So I think FSD may be a little unclear here Should hit the left light or hit the right light But theoretically speaking, if it is done by humans It should be hit the right light first Then wait for you to the road After turning to the left line Hit the left light again Or maybe he entered the road immediately Cut to the left line So he hit the left light first It may be because of this
But I won't do that. Ok, like I said, he immediately turned to the left after he came out. And he crossed three lines in a safe situation. I think this operation is very human.
Another thing to note is that when it finally turned to this road, it crossed a stone white line. In theory, according to the law, it should not be able to cut directly into this stone white line. But this is V12, it's like a human being operating. If I were a driver myself, I would do the same. Here we encounter a situation where the automatic driving is safer than human beings.
You can see from this chart that when Tesla was far away, there was already a new person there. But we humans can't see this new person with our naked eyes. In other words, the 8 cameras on Tesla's car can see the movement more than your naked eye can see.
OK, then the next turn will encounter a very special situation You can see that FSD wants to take a narrow road on the left to grab the red light and turn right. It may be because the car in front of it did so, so he thinks he can do this. Theoretically, it should be possible to do this. If I'm in a hurry, I might do this. But here is another trash can to make this road narrower
OK, you can see that Tesla is doing an emergency brake here. Then the automatic driving is removed From this paragraph, we can get a conclusion. This car can actually turn over. It will be very close to the trash can or the car on the left. But because it is too close So Tesla has a safety mechanism Let the car stop directly and then remove the automatic driving That is to say, the automatic driving thinks it can go But Tesla has another system Is to observe the automatic driving at any time At any time to observe the safety of this car itself I think it is completely separated from the automatic driving. Then that system is a bit like the second line of safety
to ensure that FSD will not do anything out of the ordinary. When doing some more dangerous actions, it can remove it at any time. I think this is a very interesting edge case. Because if I drive it myself or other people drive it, in theory, it should be able to turn from that gap.
Alright, so the first section is already at the end of the road, so it stops on the side of the road. It's now ready to enter the second address. Alright, so here we have fully demonstrated how FSD can move cars that stop on the side of the road. In other words, you don't need to manually move the car to the road first. This function is very basic. If you want to become a self-driving car, you must have this function. You can see they've been replaced with kind of just blobs to show off the visualization. And although the blobs might look a little bit ugly, I think they actually give you a whole bit more information. And I'm hoping that they take over the entire driving visualization someday.
Ok, here we meet another interesting edge case The guide said here should turn left But the road on the left has been closed You can see the red sign here that the road has been closed But you can see FSD hesitating Because he may not be able to read that this road has been closed It's a bit like a foreigner driving Maybe don't understand what this sign means So he is now trying to turn left
But it feels like doing this is wrong again So he hesitated Then after a few seconds here A car appeared behind He finally decided to turn left That behavior is of course wrong Because if the road is closed You shouldn't turn into that road So driving at this time immediately take over Although this is an incorrect situation But I don't think it's serious Will directly threaten the road traffic safety So I think the special forces team may not spend too much time Put the focus on this poison
Turn off the road on this sign But if you want to solve this problem afterwards It should be very simple in theory You just need to put a lot of high-quality data Let him learn how to change the road Then the driver here will take over Then manually change it back to the correct road I think at least he is the biggest improvement than the previous version Is that he is at least thinking about whether this thing is right If the previous version, he may just turn in
Thank you for watching.
Here we have a classic example of the road The car in front is hesitant and doesn't know if it should turn right He should be familiar with the road here So it feels like he is turning right now But decided to turn right at the next intersection FSD did a great job here He kept a safe distance from the car in front The advantage of FSD here is that It is more aware of the road conditions and the behavior of other cars It will give other cars enough time to do what they want to do
Okay, so we're on a narrow road here. When the FSD sees a car coming, he naturally leans to the right. He gives the car enough space to pass. And then he goes back to the middle of the road very naturally. I think this is very similar to what humans do when they drive. And you can see that he sees a pedestrian when he's far away. And he will give the pedestrian more space because of the appearance of the pedestrian. And there was one specific really incredible pedestrian interaction that happens
The next stop sign entrance is also a very special situation. After he turned right, he immediately made a left turn. Then at the moment of turning right, the person has a car coming. But because the person is also a stop sign, so the car must stop completely and wait for us. It is worth noting that when FSD saw the person coming, he hesitated for more than half a second. When he confirmed that the car of the person was really going to stop, he turned left. I think this is a very cool place. If the car does not comply with the law and stops at the stop sign, it is very likely to hit us directly.
So FSD hesitated for half a second and decided to stop before moving forward. Alright, so now he's at the end of the navigation. This time, FSD didn't automatically lean the car to the side of the road. And the driver put a new end stop in the navigation. The next few roads were all very smooth, and there were no special situations. So just quickly turn and take it.
Ok, then there is a more difficult unprotected left turn here. Generally, in the case of a unprotected left turn at this intersection, you need to drive the car as close to the front as possible, but not too much. Because you have enough vision to see the car coming from the left But you can't move the car too much and it will block the car on the left. Then the FSD is very perfect here. It moves out a little bit first and then sees that there is no car on the left. Then slowly move out a little bit to ensure that the left and right are safe. After that, a confident left turn is made.
And I think this left turn is really like human driving. Okay, then the following is also a classic parking example. There are parking lots on both sides of this parking lot. If there are parking lots on both sides, it will block the driver's view. Usually when I encounter this situation, I need to come out a little more to make sure that there is no car coming from the left side, so I can get out. FSD also did something exactly like I just said I would do.
Slowly raise your head to ensure that the sight is no problem You can see that there is no car on the left and right Very confident execution Here is the same You can see him slowly raise his head Very very careful I don't know if there is such a similar route in China But there are stops here in North America Then there are cars blocking the sight on the left and right Very common This is also the most dangerous
Because many drivers did not notice the car coming from the left or right side Because the road is blocked So it goes out too fast The car on the left or right just crashed directly We are starting to obstruct traffic and then take a look and then proceed when it's safe
There's a bus in our lane and instead of staying behind... At the intersection of Red Light and Green Light, he saw a bus in front of him and he naturally switched to the left lane. Because there's no car on the left lane and it's usually not safe to drive behind a big car, so FSD naturally switched to the left lane, just like what ordinary human drivers do. ...in front of us, but when they were slow to proceed off the line, they just went for it. Probably the same thing I would have done in that situation. And again, loving the way it's ignoring the lane lines here and crossing them very early. You can see he's pretty patient for this unprotected left turn.
And then there's a left turn without red light here. FSD is more careful here. After he waited for the last car to pass, he can actually not wait for this car to pass. But it's a safer way to turn after waiting for this car to pass.
This is a cross-country road without any signs I think this road is actually very dangerous Because there is no stop sign in front or behind If you are not familiar with the road, you may think that there is no stop sign and you can drive directly. It happens to be the same idea when you meet a car on the left and right side. Then two cars will crash Then you can see that FSD has done a very correct behavior here
Just take this as a stop sign Slowly turn the head out first Make sure no one is coming left or right Then turn left Okay, there is a red light here Then the red light can actually turn right Then you can see that there is a space here In fact, in theory, you can drive the car over Then turn right in the red light But this time FSD didn't do this I don't know what the specific reason is The main thing should still be related to training data
You can see a person riding a bike in front of me. FSD also gives the person riding the bike more space. I think this is another FSD that looks like a human driving. If I drive myself, I would also like to give the person next to me more space. Because you definitely don't want to risk meeting him.
And I've seen this happen in the previous version of the autonomous driving version. At that time, he also stepped on the brake. In this case, it is very dangerous. But you can't see this at all in V12.
Then the next situation I think is that the V12 performs very much like a very good behavior of humans. There is a red light at the intersection in front and there are some plazas next to it. The V12 detected that the car next to it was going to come out and enter the road. So he specially left a little space for the car so that he could come out. This is something that many human drivers may not do.
This situation often happens in the United States But I think maybe 50% of human drivers will not do this But FSD can do this I think it's really awesome From these small actions, you can feel that they really spent a lot of time and effort Making this FSD really like a human driving And it's a very good driver Not the usual American people's driving style Okay, that's the latest demo of FSD I think it's amazing I can feel that Tesla's trans-science technology is feasible
Although there are still some special situations Like road closures These signs need to be enhanced But I think these are all small problems that can be solved I have seen so many videos on the Internet My own feeling is V12 can now be very similar to the way humans drive To deal with the vast majority of situations But of course it has a lot of room for improvement Like knowing how to read some special road signs
Or when it rains, snows or lights are not good at night These are some bottlenecks that will be encountered with pure vision Then it depends on whether they can slowly solve these problems Elon said on X Next every two weeks There will be a large degree of FSD updates This also verifies what I said before On the basis of FSD v12 new E2E The speed of the fold is much faster than before I am looking forward to v12's performance and progress this year
But I'm still looking forward to it. I still have to be very practical. We are now away from Robotaxi. That is, the full automatic passenger car Level 5. Still have a period of time. At least I don't think it will be in the next one or two years. But I can already see it being realized that day. If you like this video. Remember to help me like it. You are also welcome to leave a comment below. Share your opinion. Or if you want to see me do more of this kind of video.
Remember to tell me In addition, I know that many netizens left a message under the video telling me that China's Huawei and other brands' autonomous driving has long surpassed Tesla and Waymo I have watched some videos Some are really good at doing it and will automatically reverse But still like what I said in my previous video I think in the end it will not be only one company that can do level 5 complete autonomous driving It's just a matter of time
And to achieve the same result There are many ways to achieve the technology in the middle At this stage, it's hard to say who is right Whose plan or technology is the best But I think no matter who did the last result first Whose technology is the strongest I am very happy that I can live in this era Witness these historical moments Because I am sure that in the future Autopilot will definitely be safer than driving When the automatic driving is popularized The probability of traffic accidents happening will be much lower
There will be fewer and fewer accidents in the future Because of the traffic accident Because of the alcohol price Causing other people's families to break down And now born children No need to learn how to drive in the future I think these modern human progress More important than anything else See you next time
