IPA SMA Kelas 10 - Kimia Hijau (Green Chemistry) | GIA Academy
Hello friends, welcome back to the Gia Academy YouTube channel. I hope you are always healthy and keep going. Have you ever used clothes with many advantages such as diverse colors, anti-mold fabric, water-resistant and not easy to smudge? Of course, the previous range of advantages gives us benefits, so the clothes we use last longer.
However, the advantages of the ingredients must use many chemicals which of course have side effects, both during production, use, and after production. The chemical ingredients can be solvents, colorants, water repellents, fire inhibitors, or biocides. The existence of these dangerous chemicals certainly produces textile waste that can endanger the environment around the factory.
To overcome this condition, the government usually implements laws that regulate the existence and activity of factories. And the owners of the factory cooperate by complying with each of the regulations. As consumers, we must be careful to choose safe clothing and not contain many dangerous chemicals. Yes, we all have to be committed to protecting our environment to keep it safe.
Because if the chemical process in life is not immediately controlled, it can be ensured that our earth will be more damaged and threaten the sustainability of human life and other living beings. Sustainable environmental management needs to be done to ensure the sustainability of life on earth. Well, what is the role of chemical science in environmental management? To understand it, let's follow this video to the end.
So in this video we will learn about the role of chemistry in environmental management. Keep watching the video. Well, friends, as we know, the chemical process plays a very important role in many aspects of our lives. Not only in the industrial world, but also in our daily lives. For example, when friends are eating bread. Eits, do you know the bread of Odading? This bread was viral a few times later.
Odading is a special Indonesian food that is quite popular in the West Java region. This food is made from flour dough with a chewy and savory taste. Just like bread making in general, Odading dough is also added baking soda to develop and have a fluffy texture. Do you know if the process of making bread is also a chemical reaction?
Well, baking soda or this bicarbonate sodium if heated will produce carbon dioxide gas. Carbon dioxide gas will give pressure on the wall of the bread dough, so it forms a cavity. This condition is what makes the bread expand and become softer. Wow, it turns out that chemical reactions are not separated from our lives. It turns out that the chemical process has not always frightened us. There is a good chemical process, useful and safe for the environment.
This chemical process will keep our earth safe and controlled. The chemical process used to maintain this environment is known as Green Chemistry. Green Chemistry can be defined as a chemical approach aimed at maximizing efficiency and minimizing harmful effects on human and environmental health.
So, Green Chemistry will design chemical products and processes to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals for humans, animals, and the environment where we live. The principle of Green Chemistry was first established by Paul Anastas and John Warner in 1998.
They created a working concept to make chemical materials, processes and products that are more environmentally friendly. For his dedication, Paul Anastas is known as the "Father of Green Chemistry". Of course, there is no chemical process that is environmentally friendly to perfection. However, the negative effect on chemical research or chemical industry as a whole can be reduced by applying the following 12 principles of green chemistry. First, to protect the environment.
1. Preventing mold from mold accumulation or mold cleaning that occurs after the synthesis process and 2. Minimize mold in each process 2. Maximize the value of the economy of an atom 3. Reduce mold at the molecular level by maximizing the number of atoms from all reactions to the final product The economy atom here is to evaluate the efficiency of the reaction. 3. A little dangerous chemical synthesis
design chemical reactions and synthesis routes as safely as possible, consider all dangerous substances during direct reactions, including mold. Fourth, design a process that involves safe chemicals, predict and evaluate all aspects, including physical characteristics, toxicity, and environment. Fifth, use a more safe solution and reaction condition.
Choose the safest solution in each process and minimize the amount of solution so as not to produce a larger percentage of waste. Sixth, design energy efficiency. Choose the smallest chemical reaction path energy. Avoid heat and cooling, also vacuum pressure and conditions. Seventh, use new baking materials.
Unique coal is usually from agricultural products or natural resources. While non-unique coal comes from fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, coal and other minerals. 8. Reduce chemical emissions Reduce chemical emissions to reduce reaction levels, chemical additives and waste production. 9. Use catalysts
The use of catalysts plays a role in increasing selectivity, reducing moisture, reaction time, and energy in a reaction. 10. Design chemical materials and products that are degraded after use. Chemical materials must be easy to degrade and not accumulate in the environment.
11. Direct analysis to prevent pollution. The analysis method that must be done in real time to prevent the formation of hazardous materials for the environment. Finally, prevent the potential for accidents. Choose the chemical ingredients used in chemical reactions and develop procedures to avoid accidents. Then, what steps can we take to apply the principles of green chemistry in our daily lives?
In general, these are some actions that we can take: Cleaning the house. Replacing conventional cleaning with natural cleaning such as vinegar and baking soda. Personal products. The use of soap and organic shampoo or those made with environmentally friendly ingredients. Organic agriculture. Planting plants at home organically and reducing the use of pesticides.
Storage of storage, recycling household items such as paper, plastic and glass, as well as reducing the use of disposable packaging. Renewable energy, using renewable energy sources such as solar panels or wind turbines to meet the needs of household energy. Next, sustainable transportation.
Choose sustainable transportation such as walking, cycling, or using public transportation or if possible, you can use electric vehicles and more environmentally friendly fuels. Food processing Find organic and local food and reduce disposable packaging in food packaging.
urban agriculture planting plants in a environmentally friendly way for example without using pesticides and synthetic chemicals food and drink industry choose food and drink products that are produced with environmentally friendly principles such as the use of organic fertilizers and sustainable production methods education and awareness educating oneself and others
the importance of the green chemistry principle and its impact on the environment. We can also design, develop and practice the green chemistry principle according to the 12 points mentioned earlier. For example, the first green chemistry principle is to protect the environment. We map the problem, namely Indonesia is the second largest trash dispenser in the world. There is a lot of plastic waste in our homes and surroundings.
then the actions that are in accordance with the principles of green chemistry to prevent mold are: 1. Using bioplastic from the mold that does not produce mold 2. Bringing your own shopping bag from home when shopping 3. Managing old plastic packaging as a bag, place for pens, place for trash, flower pots, etc.
The next example is the 8th principle of Green Chemistry, reducing chemical emissions. The problem is, first, there are many dangerous pollutants such as gasoline in daily items such as gasoline, paint, paint and rubber.
Second, dangerous pollution can cause a disturbance of the respiratory tract, disturbance of the lungs and acute poisoning in people who are directly contaminated by the substance.
then the action that can be done according to the principle of green chemistry to reduce the chemical content is to replace harmful pollutants for the environment with environmentally friendly pollutants such as the genus of soy methyl ester and lactate ester originating from the chalaza and able to replace pollutants which are the origin of the oil products of the earth that are chlorinated
One of the green chemical roles is to support 17 sustainable development agendas until 2030, which was adopted by the PBB. These 17 agendas, among others, eradicate poverty, end starvation, live a healthy and prosperous life, inclusive education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, clean and affordable energy, decent work, and economic growth.
industry, innovation, and infrastructure, reducing burden, sustainable cities and communities, responsible production and consumption, climate management, maintaining the sea ecosystem, maintaining the land ecosystem, peace, justice, and strong institutions, and partnership to achieve goals.
From the 17 agendas, the Green Chemistry Principle is integrated into the 3 Agendas for Sustainable Development 2030, namely Agenda No. 3, 6, 7, 13, 14, and 15. Healthy and prosperous life for all humans on Earth is certainly because of a safe and free environment.
Principle number 7 Green Chemistry is the use of renewable energy sources Indonesia has tried to implement this principle by reducing the dependence on fossil energy sources to maintain environmental sustainability
Here are some examples of findings that make use of green chemistry to overcome environmental problems. First, bioplastic made from natural polymer, namely zinc oxide. This bioplastic can dissolve instantly in hot water. In cold water, bioplastic naturally melts and turns into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass in a few months.
Second, B30 biodiesel, is a BBM that comes from a mixture of 30% oil and 70% solar oil for diesel engines. B30 can clean the crack in the fuel tank wall of vehicles. B30 usage can also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, namely carbon dioxide gas.
Third, organic waste, such as vegetable and fruit waste that can be used as compost and biogas. Garbage that has been polluted is then fermented to become compost. For biogas, cow dung is used as a starter to form gas. After that, vegetable waste that has been polluted is added. Fermentation will produce methane gas that can be used as a fuel.
So the principle of green chemistry is very contributing to the preservation of the environment because we have to be careful in the use of materials and processing the impact that arises if we are not careful using these chemicals can be physical burns, poisoning, cancer, damage to body functions, and can cause global climate change, thinning of ozone layer, and other environmental damage
In the concept of chemistry for sustainable development, we must always think of safer and better choices, especially for chemical materials and reaction processes. Replacement of chlorofluorocarbon with hydrochlorofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon which is safer, prevents the high risk of the earth's layer of ozone to be left, so that the global warming effect can be minimized. So far you can understand it, right?
For you to understand, let's finish the following question. First question, state the following statements as well as the reasons. First statement, not all chemical reactions produce dangerous substances. For example, the use of baking soda in the process of baking bread dough. The carbon dioxide gas produced will make the bread soft and delicious to chew.
This statement is true because the chemical products produced give us benefits. In addition, this chemical reaction product also does not endanger the environment because the carbon dioxide gas produced is not in high concentration and can naturally be re-processed in the carbon cycle.
Second statement, the reaction of imperfect combustion chemistry, for example burning garbage in the open air, will not pollute the environment because it produces carbon monoxide gas that is safe for living insects.
This second statement is wrong because carbon monoxide gas is dangerous for health Carbon monoxide emissions can hinder the ability of blood to bring oxygen to the body's network and other vital organs so that our body is at risk of heart failure
Carbon monoxide poisoning can also cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, and even loss of consciousness. Third statement: B30 biodiesel is one of the government's efforts to adopt the principle of green chemistry, namely using alternative energy sources that are environmentally friendly.
This statement is true because B30 biodiesel is made from a mixture of 30% oil and 70% solar oil as a greenhouse gas that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions carbon dioxide Second question, given several statements as an effort to implement the principles of green chemistry we are asked to determine a business that is in line with the principles of green chemistry design chemical materials and products that are easy to be biodegraded
Biodegradation means the use of organic materials by microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. So the appropriate action is: businessmen who use renewable or organic materials such as biomass, which can be used as a replacement for plastic that previously contained petrochemicals. So the correct answer is D.
Well friends, that's our discussion about green chemistry for environmental preservation Hopefully by studying this material we can contribute in implementing the principles of green chemistry starting from small actions of ourselves, the environment of our own home and in everyday life let's take care of our environment together okay friends don't forget to watch the latest videos on our channel, see you
