AREA 51 Aircraft Encounters While Exploring Remote Entrances
Hey everybody, welcome back to the
channel. So today I'm going to be
heading up to the Area 51 perimeter to
do some exploring and of course some
night sky watching to see if we can
catch any interesting aircraft. I also
have not spent the night yet at the land
that I just bought in Rachel, so I'm
going to spend the first night up there.
First things first, I'm going to stop in
Alamo to fill up my water tank and then
probably make a stop by Groom Lake Road
and the black mailbox as well.
Traveling down the ET Highway, I decided
to stop off at the black mailbox or at
least the spray painted cooler that
represents the current iteration of the
black mailbox.
I'm surprised this one hasn't gotten
stolen yet. Seems to be a common theme
with this thing.
I left a few stickers, stuck one on top,
and then continued on my merry way
for an uneventful and peaceful drive to
my land in Rachel.
Or at least that's what I wish I could
say happened. In reality, I got this.
Oh,
Diesel everywhere.
Damn it.
All right. Well, this is not exactly
ideal.
So, I was driving away from the black
mailbox. I got uh maybe a mile or two
down uh the ET Highway and uh I just
started smelling diesel like insanely
strong. And uh I looked down and there's
just like this river of diesel flowing
out of the engine compartment into the
cab and I'm like, "Oh, shit." So, then I
pulled over and then I see diesel all
over the bottom of the bus. And then I
open up the uh compartment and I have a
ruptured uh fuel line. So,
yeah, that's always fun to deal with
when you're out in the middle of the
desert like 2 and 1/2 hours from Vegas.
So, I got to explore some options here
and uh it looks like I might be staying
uh
at this little turnout here instead of
my land. So,
let's see what happens.
Long story short, I had to find out the
hard way that the roadside assistance
that I pay for was totally useless. Word
to the wise, avoid Good Sam like the
plague. I decided to go with the option
of having a mechanic drive out from
Vegas and replace the fuel line here on
site. So, I'll be launching today's
expedition from here. But, before I do
that, I want to give a huge thank you to
the sponsor of today's video who makes
it possible to continue these
expeditions even in the face of some
pretty expensive vehicle troubles. So,
I'm a big believer in taking steps to
ensure my safety and that's whether I'm
out here in the wilderness or on the
internet. And a big way to do that is by
making sure my personal information is
protected. Today's video sponsor,
Incogni, offers you the perfect tool to
do just that. So, in this day and age,
it's way too easy for scammers, hackers,
identity thieves to find your personal
information like your address, your
phone number, your email. It's plastered
all over the internet on these data
broker websites and if you've ever tried
to remove yourself from the internet,
you know how hard it can be because
you'd have to send takedown requests to
all these hundreds of websites out there
and realistically who has time for that?
Incogni makes the process super easy
because all you have to do is sign up
for their service and then they'll
handle the rest. They'll send the
takedown requests for you and keep you
updated every step of the way on their
handy online dashboard. They even have
this feature called custom removals
where if you find your information on a
link that may not come up in the
standard search, you can go ahead and
send the link straight to Incogni and
they'll handle taking the information
down from there as well. So if you want
to protect yourself from all the scams
out there, take charge of your personal
data today cuz remember they can't harm
you if they can't find you. Use the code
uncanny at the link below to save
yourself 60% off an annual plan. That's
code uncanny to save yourself 60% off an
annual plan.
All right, we got an A-10 and an F-16
coming in. Likely from Nellis given that
the weapons school integration event is
still going on and we got all kinds of
fighters coming through.
I was actually out there last night
filming some of the night launches so
I'll roll that clip at the end of this
video today.
Oh man, that was a nuts flyover. Hell
yeah.
That was so low I could see the pilots
in the cockpit.
Well, here's the new Honda Trail 125 to
replace my old one that got stolen.
I put a collapsible crate on the back
here.
As you can see, it's a little more of a
stealthy color, which probably will work
to my advantage. Threw some off-road
tires on here, too, before I came out.
I'll be heading off into the hills here
today near Bald Mountain to check out
some of the remote border sections.
First destination is going to be this
very old, overgrown access road to a
former comm site. I visited this road in
an old video, but I'm going to take a
second look at it today for two reasons.
Number one being I like to see if
there's any updates since my last video.
As oftentimes whenever I do a video on a
remote entrance, they'll end up putting
fresh signs or security measures in
place. As was the case with the road to
Stonewall Mountain, for example.
Last time I was up there, there was only
the orange posts and no signage or
anything, and the orange posts were all
knocked over and in a pile.
I also want to spend some time hiking
the perimeter up there and see if I can
get to a place where I can see the
former comm site and see if there's any
infrastructure still there. Cuz it kind
of looks like there might be, at least
judging from Google Earth.
Directly ahead of me are the orange
posts that designate the Area 51
perimeter, marking the legal end of the
line for this trail.
Still no warning signs here, just the
orange posts, most of which seem to have
washed down the mountain
due to years of
storms and neglect.
I don't know if this tree was across the
road last time I was up here.
I'm going to make my way up this hill on
kind of a sketchy hike. You can see one
of the orange posts here, so I'm going
to try and stay on the legal side of
this perimeter,
which is a bit tricky in the brush.
There's one of the silver balls on a
pole that uh also marks the perimeter.
These ones are used for um
visibility from helicopters, I believe.
There's no kind of advanced uh sensors
or anything, and I'm just a ball on a
pole.
Take a closer look at it here.
I've seen these by some of the other
Bald Mountain gates. I didn't know there
was one up here.
All right, continuing onward, I've uh
realized that I've lost sight of any
orange posts now for a while, which
makes me a little nervous.
I suspect they were down in this wash,
and uh like the other pole posts we saw
down there, they probably all washed
down the mountain.
So, I'm going to be relying strictly on
my offline GPS, which is always a little
bit sketchy.
>> Finally, after ascending that crest, we
can see into the restricted zone.
Just through the trees there, I can make
out something silver and reflective
where the old comms site used to be.
Looks like all we have here is the stub
of a tower, and there doesn't seem to be
any current communication or
surveillance infrastructure on this
mountain.
And there is just barely a direct line
of sight to Bald Mountain over there,
right over that ridge.
So, I won't be doing anything unwise
like crossing the perimeter.
I'll be heading to some more remote
gates, but first I'm going to swing by
my campsite to grab a jacket and some
gloves. It's getting pretty cold and
windy out here.
I'm going to go ahead and check out some
of the Bald Mountain gates that are out
here and the surveillance infrastructure
that they have. I know there's some FLIR
cameras set up on some of those remote
roads.
Oh, check it out. We got two Blackhawks
coming in super low.
Coming right through the valley, just
like skimming the ground.
Those aren't the perimeter security
helicopters cuz I can see refueling
probes.
There's Bald Mountain for reference.
They're heading right up into that
canyon that I just came from.
All right, so there's a total of six
entry points around Bald Mountain called
Bald Mountain gates 1 through 6.
I'll likely only hit a couple of them in
today's video cuz they all kind of look
the same and they tend to get a little
bit repetitive. Of course, if we see
something really unusual or interesting,
I'll be sure and document it here.
I mainly want to see if there's anything
new out there, any new surveillance
infrastructure, see if we get any
interesting camo dude activity.
A lot of these trails back here are
pretty rough.
If you're taking a car, I would
definitely recommend good tires, decent
clearance.
Probably don't need 4x4, but it always
helps.
One thing to keep in mind out here, too,
is that it's very easy to accidentally
cross the border because of where the uh
perimeter markers
intersect. Often times, they'll
intersect diagonally, and the signs can
actually sometimes be well inside the
border. So, if you get to the signs, you
may already be trespassing.
And we don't want to give the camo dudes
any excuse to detain us, that is for
sure.
Yeah.
Checking the map here just to make sure
cuz I see some of the orange posts
approaching the road, and it looks like
there was one close to the road that may
have fallen over.
No sign of any camo dude activity yet.
There's one orange post down in the
ravine.
And I see a FLIR camera
close to one of the other roads way off
in the distance.
I can hear some more jets starting up
again as I'm heading back down this
trail.
And there's the first camo dude sighting
of the day off on that hill over there.
There's like a little stub there that I
think was going to be uh another FLIR
site, but they never built it.
Coming up on this crossing, we can see
that the perimeter does intersect
diagonally through the road. This one we
can see the orange post
and one of the silver balls in the
ravine that marks the perimeter. And
again, that's so it's visible from the
air.
So, yeah, that sign you can see is
inside the perimeter.
There it is. I've been looking for the
B-52. I know there's been a couple of
them flying out of Nellis for the
weapons school integration.

>> Back at Janet, I was able to get a
mechanic out to fix the broken fuel
injector tube. Shout out to Las Vegas
Mobile Semi Repair.
Once I was in a drivable state and could
proceed down the highway without
spilling diesel everywhere, I headed on
down to the west end of Rachel.
Ooh, okay, got that nightmare dealt with
and uh made it back to my land west of
Rachel. So, I'm going to spend the night
up here for uh the next couple of nights
and uh hopefully the the weather stays
okay. It's getting super cold and windy.
It's crazy what a temperature difference
it is up here compared to Vegas with the
elevation. Getting a lot of wind
[clears throat] and clouds coming in.
So, I don't know how good the night sky
viewing will be tonight, but we'll see.
Uh for now, there's uh some aircraft
activity coming in and out of the hills
directly to my north. Looks like some
heavy aircraft, like some C-17s and
maybe some C-130s.
So, I'm going to pull out the telephoto
lens and see if I can get a closer look
at what might be going on up here.
Definitely some C-130 action going on
over there. Looks like they're heading
into Railroad Valley.
I don't know if they're heading to
Tonopah or they might be landing at that
dirt airstrip that's over in Railroad
Valley.
>> [music]
>> In addition to the C-130s, C-17s also
make an appearance.
>> [music]
>> I presume this one is heading back
towards Nellis.

>> As the sun is almost all the way set, I
can actually see Stewart Well Road from
my property.
And the headlights of a white Ford
operated by a camo dude heading down the
road.
As nightfall covered Sand Spring Valley,
I went inside to make dinner and get out
of the cold for a while.
A while later, I heard what sounded like
either a prop plane or a drone directly
overhead. I was barely able to make it
out at the time given the limited light,
but I couldn't tell if I was looking at
a Reaper or what.
Looking closer, it was definitely a prop
plane, but I knew it wasn't a civilian
plane as it had just come out of the
restricted airspace near Tonopah, and it
was hugging the border of Area 51.
After researching it, it seems this is
likely a U-28A Draco, which is a
military version of a PC-12
single-engine aircraft. It's operated by
the Air Force Special Operations Command
for use in special operations, tactical
intelligence, surveillance and
reconnaissance, and other roles.
>> So, as I mentioned briefly earlier in
the video, I got some night vision
footage of some of the Nellis takeoffs a
few nights ago. So, I'm going to go
ahead and roll that footage to uh wrap
up today's video.
