In this video, we will learn to write a report text or what is known as report text. To understand this material well, there are five things we will learn. The first is, what is report text? The second is, what is the social function? The third, what are the generic structures?
Fourth, what are the language features? And the last one is the example of how to write report text. First, we will learn what is the understanding of report text. English-speaking friends, in this section we will learn about the definition of report text.
Report text is a text that describes the way things in general, and it provides clear information about the topic. In Indonesian, report text means a report text used to provide clear facts about a topic and describe it in general. Report text refers to the result of observation, research, or analysis.
So, a report text is the result of observation, observation, research, or observation of something. Well, English-speaking friends, that is the understanding of a report text or a report text. Meanwhile, examples of report texts can be observations about animals, plants, objects, technology, or phenomena. In its use, we often have difficulty distinguishing between a report text and a descriptive text.
There is a big difference between text report and descriptive text. This is the difference between report text and descriptive text. Report text describes something in general. For example, cat, rose, mobile phone. Here we write cat, rose, and mobile phone in general. While descriptive text describes something in particular. For example, my cat, my rose, my handphone.
Here, when you write descriptive text, you only explain about My Cat, My Rose, and My Handphone in a special way. Next, the second difference is that report text uses scientific name. The example of the sentence is "Cat is also called Felis Catus", while descriptive text does not use scientific name.
The example of the sentence is "My cat is also called Mew." Here the difference is the report text uses the Latin name or scientific name, then the descriptive text uses the personal name. Then the third difference is that in writing a report text, you need observation to describe it. While in the descriptive text, you use personal opinion or personal opinion to describe it.
The following is an observation example in the text report. Cat is for like carnivorous mammal. Meanwhile, the descriptive text example is My cat has cute color in his leg.
The word "carnivorous mammal" is the result of observation or research, while "cute color" is personal opinion or personal opinion. Meanwhile, the social function or purpose of writing a report text is "to report something in general", while the purpose of writing a descriptive text is "to describe certain things". Friends can click the notification above to learn the descriptive text in more detail.
Well, English-speaking friends, now we understand the meaning and purpose of the text report. In the next part, we will learn to arrange paragraphs from the text report.
English Media friends, in this section we will learn Generic Structure or general order in writing report text. Generally, a text report consists of two parts. The first is General Classification and the second is Description.
In the part of general classification, you should classify the object you are going to describe. And you state the classification of general aspect of the thing. And it should be in the paragraph 1. General classification is the first paragraph in the report text. In this section, you have to introduce the object that you will write in the report text. You have to write the classification in general. Well, the second part of report text is description.
This part gives information facts or features about the object you are going to describe. Facts and features, it can be in the form of part or physical appearance, quality or characteristic, habits or behavior, function, and etc. It is in the part of second paragraph to the end.
Now, to make it easier for you to understand, let's arrange a report text example based on the parts or arrangement of paragraphs above. And the object that we will write in the report text is "Cathus". In writing a text report, first you have to explain the object that you will tell scientifically. Here are the examples:
Cactus is member of plant family Cactathea, native to Americas. Cacti are part of the plant Cariobilales. Next, we write the second part, which is description. Here are the examples. They are often used as ornamental plant, but some are also crop plant. Cacti are grown for protection of property from wild animals, as well as many other uses.
Description 2: Kakti are unusual and distinctive plants, which are adaptable to extremely arid and hot environments. Showing a wide range of non-topical and psychological features which conserve water, their stems have adapted to become photosynthesis and succulents, while leaves have become spins of which kakti are well known.
Well, Englishpedia friends, this is a sample of the report text where we explain about Cactus. The first part is General Classification, where we classify or introduce Cactus in general and scientifically. The second part is Description, where I write the function of Cactus in general.
And the third part is Description. In this part, I explain the physical form, behavior, and characteristics of the card. Englishpedia friends, we have learned Generic Structure or General Arrangement, as well as examples in organizing reports. Next, we will learn the Language Feature or the related discussion methods in it.
Sahabat Inglespedia, di bagian ini kita akan mempelajari language feature atau ciri kebahasaan yang terkait dalam report text. Yang pertama, penelusan report text menggunakan general noun. General noun adalah kata benda umum. Contohnya adalah tiger, cactus, catea, mobile phone, and etc.
Second, in writing a report text, always use simple present tense. Simple present tense is the first form of work, used to show daily activities or general truth. For example, "Tiger lives in the jungle." Friends can click the link above to learn simple present tense further. The third characteristic of language in writing a text report is using passive voice.
Passive voice is the form of a verb where the subject is concerned with the work. The pattern in making a passive sentence is "to be + verb 3". Here is an example in a passive sentence. "Cactus is grown for protection." Which means, the cactus is used as a form of protection. Next, the fourth feature of the term is to use adverb of frequency.
Attribute of frequency is the time expression that shows the frequency level. The examples are: often, always, sometime, etc. And the last one is the terminology used in the text report is using scientific term. Scientific term is a Latin term used to classify objects that we describe.
For example, "Argagea" to explain "Gatus", "Panthera Tigris" or the Latin term used to explain "Tiger". Well, Englishpedia friends, that's all we need to understand report text.
