I am a software engineer working in the department of software engineering. Because my current home is in Toronto, I have been working from home since March last year. I haven't been to the office yet. While I was at home, I also spread to different places. Some are in New York, some are in LA, some are even in Hawaii.

I think I'm very lucky. With the pandemic spreading around the world, my job basically didn't affect me. I can work anywhere in the world at any time. As long as I have a computer and a stable network, that's it. I believe that many people don't have such a luxury of life. They still have to work hard every day. The service industry and the first-tier medical personnel are all very hardworking. So I hope the epidemic can be controlled soon and end soon.

I originally planned to move to the US in August and September this year. But because our company's latest regulation is "engineering is remote first" Even if we open our office in August and September, we still don't have to go to the office. It means we can continue to be remote. I think this policy is actually very good.

You have this option to go to work from your office. If you like to work from your office, you need to focus on the environment of the office. If you are like me, you prefer to work from home, and don't like to commute every morning, take a taxi or take the subway, then this option is available. So I think it's not bad. I will go to where after three or four months. Actually, I'm not 100% sure. But based on the current plan, I should go to California first.

Actually, I've always had a small dream of working remotely in different cities around the world for a month or two or three months to experience the local life. But our company still does not support employees working in places outside the United States. So for the time being, this is impossible for me to say.

But we'll see. Anyway, someone asked me in the comments section of my video what my keyboard and mouse are. Or some people asked me if I could introduce my work from home setup. I thought I'd do this video while I'm still working on it. Let me introduce my current work from home setup. My current setup is the most basic setup. It's all the stuff that I really need to use in my work.

Actually, most people ask me about this chair. This is from Ikea. The price is quite worth it. It's a chair with a high cost-effectiveness. But it's just like all other Ikea furniture. The quality of the product is not very good. But if you want to buy a good one at a reasonable price, this chair is good.

I've been using this chair for 5 years now and I think it's still very durable. It's not a big deal, I don't have a high demand for chairs, but if you have a lot of budget, I believe you can have more better choices. I have two sets of keyboard mouse. One set is for my computer, the other set is for the company's computer. All are Bluetooth. The keyboard is Apple's Magic Keyboard. I think it's comfortable to play, but it can only connect one computer at a time, so I really don't know what it's magic.

The other one is Logitech MX Keys for Mac. This is really recommended. It can connect three computers at once and switch at any time. This is for Mac, designed for Apple computers. The symbols on the buttons are the same as the standard keyboard for Apple. It actually has the same version of MX Keys. The buttons for Apple and Windows system are all marked. Because I know I won't be using Windows anymore, so I just bought the Mac version.

Oh, by the way, some engineers think that you must use a mechanical keyboard. I don't know if it's because they fantasize that typing is faster or it looks more cool. But the main reason is that engineers don't have any social activities. They can't wear cool suits to work. So they can only spend money on the keyboard to show their personality traits. I think that's a bit noisy and useless.

Both are Logitech MX Master. The first one is the second generation, and the latest one is the third generation, which is also a Mac version. In fact, MX Master is a very expensive mouse. I think it's just a person who can use it better. To be honest, I don't think it's as good as the mouse that costs 20 or 30 yuan. But like I said before, the money of the engineer is not spent on the Internet, so you can only buy these things.

This mouse has a lot of functions to set up. But I don't use the scrolls on the side. And I found a hidden button on the bottom left corner of the mouse when I was shooting this video. It's pretty cool. Although I don't know what it's for.

The big one is from the company and the small one is my own laptop. This is not a good introduction. I usually use the laptop with the laptop like this. And connect the screen directly. Both are directly connected to the screen. I actually bought this one. I don't know if you can see this thing. It's actually a stable base that allows the laptop to be straight or horizontal. I think it's pretty good. It saves space. If you also like to use the laptop together, I recommend you to buy this laptop.

My external screen is Dell Ultra Sharp series and the other one is LG Ultra Sharp series. This Ultra Sharp series is the standard of this office. I have seen many companies use this one. Why does the office like to use Dell? Because the computer is very stable. If you are good at standing on the table, it is not easy to shake. I think it is better than LG, Samsung and other brands. And it may be more durable. I don't know.

Compared to other similar-sized brands, this series is slightly more expensive. For headphones, I'm using Bose QC35. It's mainly for meeting. I don't think Bose's earphones need much introduction. It's very easy to use on the plane, and it's very comfortable to wear.

I use AirPods for my work. I use AirPods for my work. Some people ask me why I have so many headphones. It's really convenient. If I connect all of them to one earphone, I will need to manually switch between them. It's really troublesome.

And the Bluetooth is a common failure. I don't think it has a perfect system to switch between. So I have my own Bluetooth output on every computer. There's an old Bose speaker on my desk. It's connected to my computer. It's been around for over 10 years. I bought it when I was in high school. And I was still a second-hand buyer. It's still in good condition. I don't know how many times I've broken it.

The main reason why I haven't changed it is because I think for a computer speaker, I think its sound is already great. And it seems to have a built-in bass. I think listening to music or something is already enough. I'm not the kind of person who pursues sound quality. Although I may release a video in the future, I think this one can satisfy all my needs.

Next to it is a small Bose Revolve Bluetooth speaker. This is relatively new. I usually use it when listening to music in the living room or when taking a bath in the bathroom. I highly recommend this. Although it is small, the sound quality and the sound quality are really good. And it's very durable. I don't know how many times it has been broken. Still very durable.
